With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to clinch up.
Lovski throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.
Lovski misses the jab.
Lovski will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
A little feinted left hand from Lovski on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lovski misses with an uppercut. Johnson saw that one coming.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Lovski.
Lovski sets himself, and Johnson steps forward looking for the clinch! Lovski avoids it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lovski fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lovski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lovski swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson tries to counter with a clinch but Lovski shakes him off and moves away.
Lovski throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range.
Lovski stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Lovski scores with a nice right hand.
Lovski keeps the fight on the outside.
Lovski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.
Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lovski.
Johnson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lovski to score with a decent uppercut.
Johnson moves away from the strike by Lovski.
Lovski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Lovski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lovski swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Johnson moves into the clinch.
Lovski is trying to push Johnson away but Johnson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Lovski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Still in the clinch, Johnson scores with a nice short uppercut.
Johnson wants a takedown.
I was talking to Lovski's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Pitbull Lovski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson.
Lovski stops a takedown attempt from Johnson.
Lovski wants to get back to striking at distance but Johnson won't allow it.
Johnson has Lovski pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lovski manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Lovski is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lovski down to the mat. Lovski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lovski went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Pitbull Lovski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lovski displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.

Johnson dodges the punch combination from Lovski.
Lovski clobbers Johnson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lovski scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Johnson doesn't seem bothered though.
Lovski fails to land with a series of punches.
Lovski stuffs the takedown.
Lovski misses with an uppercut

so Johnson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Johnson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Johnson has hold of Lovski's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Lovski seems comfortable defending it but Johnson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Lovski is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Lovski is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Johnson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Johnson!
A very excited looking John Johnson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
