Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ouyang Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vallard Reus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ouyang Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vallard Reus!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Summer Carpenter and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A shot to the body from Kang misses
and Reus counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kang is lucky that one didn't land flush.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kang.
And Reus responds with a good body kick, but Kang manages to step out the way in time.
Kang misses with a hook
and Reus counters with a body kick that stops Kang in his tracks momentarily.
Reus avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kang moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromReus.

Kang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kang lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reus keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully.

Kang pushing down on Reus's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Kang is trying to control. Reus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kang is looking for a kimura but Reus is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kang to get the leverage.
Kang wants to pass to mount but Reus is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Reus blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kang.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Kang is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Reus is staying active underneath Kang, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Reus avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kang.
Reus is not content to let Kang control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kang waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Reus.
Kang misses with a jab, cross combination.
Reus throws a big counter head kick but Kang avoids it with no problem.
Kang shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reus sprawls well. Reus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kang gets slowly back to his feet.
Reus feints the counter takedown.
Kang throws a combination that misses
and Reus counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Kang throws a hook but Reus avoids it easily.

Kang rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reus counters with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kang darts in looking for a takedown but Reus gets double underhooks and turns Kang into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ouyang Kang. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reus was covering up waiting for the punch and Kang finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reus is keeping the position for now.
Kang trying to control the position from guard on top but Reus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kang stands and throws Reus's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ouyang Kang dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Reus ducks under a wild hook from Kang.
Reus changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Kang throws a jab when Reus was well out of range.
And Reus tries to counter it with a takedown but Kang pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kang throws a body punch but Reus moves out of range.
Reus is trying to counter with his kicks.
Kang throws a leg kick that misses.
Reus replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Kang blocks it well.
Kang throws a poor cross that misses
and Reus counters with a body kick that stops Kang in his tracks momentarily.
Reus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kang moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromReus.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kang shoots in and bounces Reus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kang tries to free his leg and advance position but Reus is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kang works over Reus with some ground and pound from guard.
Reus keeping full guard, as Kang tries to pass.
Kang throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reus keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully.
Reus wants to stand and escape but Kang is having none of it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Kang passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kang has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kang lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kang takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kang postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reus looks a forlorn figure.

Reus is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Kang locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Reus is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ouyang Kang!
