PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yo-Landi Vi$$er (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tebato Nakara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vi$$er comes to the cage accompanied by Enter The Ninja. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tebato Nakara!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vi$$er dips to his left and cracks Nakara with an uppercut!
Vi$$er looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Nakara feints the counter takedown.
Vi$$er throws a leg kick but Nakara moved away.
A solid body kick from Vi$$er.
Vi$$er is looking to land body kicks.
Vi$$er moves out of range of the body kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nakara has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nakara avoids a kick to the body.
Vi$$er misses with an attempted mid kick.

Nakara changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nakara takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Yo-Landi Vi$$er seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nakara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vi$$er manages to avoid it.

Vi$$er fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Nakara has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vi$$er is defended easily by Nakara.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yo-Landi Vi$$er. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vi$$er misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Nakara crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vi$$er - the referee stops the clock and Nakara gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vi$$er. Nakara manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Nakara tests Vi$$er's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Nakara gets tackled into the cage by Vi$$er. Vi$$er maintains the clinch.

Nakara has picked Vi$$er up - he's going for a ride! Nakara dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Nakara thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vi$$er's head.
Vi$$er regains full guard. Nicely done.
Vi$$er has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Nakara has passed into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

You can see the frustration on Vi$$er's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nakara wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vi$$er, who protects the arm well.

Vi$$er is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Palazzo Paisano, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nakara is trying to control the position but Vi$$er postures up.

Nakara had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vi$$er defends it easily.
Vi$$er content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Vi$$er trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Nakara sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Vi$$er takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Nakara keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Vi$$er throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nakara's waist but Nakara gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vi$$er off to one side.

and Nakara counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vi$$er won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nakara goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vi$$er has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nakara but great work by Vi$$er.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vi$$er tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nakara wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nakara looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vi$$er with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vi$$er is staying active underneath Nakara, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nakara has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Vi$$er to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nakara is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Vi$$er pulls down on the head and he's put Nakara to sleep! This one is all over!
