Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeromy Mcdowell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roman Valeres!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdowell shoots in looking for a takedown but Valeres manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mcdowell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Valeres fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mcdowell to the ground. Valeres is now in Mcdowell's guard.

Valeres drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcdowell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcdowell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcdowell!

Valeres can't escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valeres is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mcdowell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valeres on the ground.

Valeres wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mcdowell.
Valeres manages to control the position for a moment.
Valeres swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Mcdowell really is a fat lump.
Valeres is looking to improve his position but Mcdowell isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Valeres bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Valeres is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Valeres throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Valeres's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mcdowell under the eye.
Valeres misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Valeres scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Valeres working his ground and pound in the gym.
Valeres is staying tight to Mcdowell's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Mcdowell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Valeres staying calm.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mcdowell seems a little lost for a moment, as Valeres dominates the positioning.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Valeres throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcdowell was covering up waiting for the punch and Valeres finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Roman Valeres has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mcdowell can't keep his opponent in guard - Valeres advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Valeres wants to stand but Mcdowell has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Valeres seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Valeres has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Valeres wants to pass to mount but Mcdowell is defending the position.

Roman Valeres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and Valeres takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Valeres escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcdowell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Valeres is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcdowell is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Valeres tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mcdowell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valeres somewhat.

Valeres darts in looking for a takedown but Mcdowell gets double underhooks and turns Valeres into the cage.
Mcdowell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Jeromy Mcdowell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Roman Valeres is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jeromy Mcdowell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Valeres.
Valeres takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
