PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Volk Kruth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Kylling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kylling's choice of entrance music: Agonoize - Bäng Bäng Goodbye . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Volk Kruth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jens Kylling!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kruth closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kylling controlling the position well.
Kruth thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kylling's head.
Kylling is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kruth is looking to take a break and control but Kylling is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kruth misses with a head shot. Kylling uses the momentum to regain guard.
Kylling is trying to control the position but Kruth postures up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kylling has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Kombat MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Kruth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kylling is keeping the position for now.
Kruth lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kylling not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kruth postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kylling wants to get back to his feet but Kruth is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kruth throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kylling works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kylling feints and then cracks Kruth's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kruth down.
Kruth avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kruth scoring well with a low kick there.
Kylling ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kruth moves away.
Kylling just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromKruth.
Kruth shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kylling pinned against the cage. Kylling gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kruth takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kruth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kylling tries to avoid it but Kruth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kylling to the ground. Kylling escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kruth avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kylling throws a leg kick but Kruth sees it coming and moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kruth decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kylling holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kylling is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kruth's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kruth's back!
Kylling keeps control of the position easily here as Kruth tries to buck him off.

Kylling is riding his opponent, not letting Kruth buck him off.
Kruth staying busy and making it hard for Kylling to control.
Kruth looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kruth has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Kylling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kruth tries to escape but Kylling has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Well, with Kylling on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kruth is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Kylling tries to get the hooks in deep but Kruth pushed the leg off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Volk Kruth will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kylling connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kruth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kylling tries to avoid it but Kruth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kylling to the ground. Kylling escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kruth shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kruth changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kylling looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kylling pushes Kruth away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kruth gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kylling tries to buck Kruth off but Kruth is having none of it.
Volk Kruth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kylling is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kruth connects with a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kruth wants to take a breather but Kylling is having none of it.

Kylling is looking to control Kruth's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kylling avoid being mounted?
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kylling is looking to improve his position.

and Kruth connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Jens Kylling has been cut.
A bone on bone clash there as Kruth blocks the leg kick.
Kruth blocks a low kick nicely.
Jens Kylling is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A swing and a miss from Kylling.
Kruth appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Kylling as Kruth shoots in.
Kylling appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Volk Kruth. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kruth drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kruth grinds an elbow into Kylling's temple.

Kylling throws Kruth to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kruth throws a sloppy head kick and Kylling moves out of range easily.
Kylling stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kylling wants it to stay on the feet.
Kylling tries a quick counter leg kick but Kruth is wise to it.
Kylling connects with a solid leg kick.
Kruth shoots in for a double leg but Kylling sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kruth has a takedown stuffed.
Kylling stuffs the takedown.
Kylling lands a high kick!
Kruth throws the left hand but Kylling avoids the punch easily.
Kylling throws a shot from downtown. Kruth moves away and avoids it.
Kylling scores with a nice right hand.
Kruth is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kylling throws a solid leg kick but Kruth takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kylling.
Kylling is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kruth on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kylling. Kylling obviously looking to wear him down.
Kylling misses with a low kick.
Nice jab there from Kylling.
Kylling circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Kruth to the canvas! Kruth doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Kylling keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jens Kylling!
After the big win, Jens Kylling made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Fury Nutrition Inc. and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
