The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
May fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Golota displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from May.

Golota throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! May escapes and throws Golota 's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
No luck with that takedown attempt from May.

May leaves Golota with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
May throws a quick counter head kick but Golota was just out of range.
Horrible takedown attempt by Golota or perhaps it was just good defense by May, which made it look bad.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Guadalupe May.
