Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximiliano Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meridius has chosen Turn Down for What as his entrance music. Ronaldo Santos has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maximiliano Meridius!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Santos shoots in looking for a takedown but Meridius manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Santos's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Meridius is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Meridius keeps the fight on the outside.

Santos half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meridius swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ronaldo Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meridius stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Meridius wants it to stay on the feet.

and Santos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Meridius won't be happy with that.

Santos is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Meridius is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Santos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Meridius to his feet.
Meridius slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Meridius throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A looping hook to the body misses from Meridius. Santos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Santos gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Meridius.
Meridius shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Santos eats them both and turns towards Meridius to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Santos is looking to take a break and control but Meridius is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Meridius pushes Santos off looking to stand but Santos dives back in and keeps control.

Meridius's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meridius is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Meridius is trying to stand but he's just given Santos his back.

Meridius has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Meridius is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Santos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Meridius throws a looping overhand right but Santos ducks down to avoid it.

Santos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Meridius pinned against the cage. Meridius gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Meridius might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Meridius lands with a nice combination. Santos backs away looking to recover.

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown. Meridius fights it but they end up in guard.
Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meridius swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Meridius really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Meridius lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Santos shoots in for a takedown but Meridius shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

It seemed like Meridius was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

I think Meridius has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
