Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edison Faulkner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shadow Killer!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Faulkner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Killer to the ground. Faulkner is now in Killer's guard.
Killer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Killer looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Faulkner postures up in Killer's guard and throws a big left but Killer blocks it.
Killer trying to strike off his back.
Faulkner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Faulkner is fighting to break Killer's control of his arms but Killer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Killer trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Horrible takedown attempt by Killer or perhaps it was just good defense by Faulkner, which made it look bad.
Shadow Killer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Faulkner shoots for a double leg takedown but Killer sprawls well. He's pushed Faulkner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Killer manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Killer manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Faulkner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Killer, up you get!

Killer shoots for a takedown but Faulkner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Faulkner went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Killer decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Killer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Faulkner sprawls well initially but Killer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Killer is stalling here. Faulkner is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Killer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Faulkner has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Killer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Faulkner pulls his head out easily.

Killer is looking for a sweep. Faulkner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killer is trying to maintain the position but Faulkner is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Killer forces Faulkner back against the cage and clinches.
Killer goes for a takedown attempt but Faulkner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Faulkner counters with a three punch combo that has Killer backing up. Killer nods at Faulkner to acknowledge the strikes.
Faulkner goes for a double leg but Killer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Killer continues to drive forward.
Faulkner misses with a takedown attempt - Killer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Killer throws a sloppy head kick and Faulkner moves out of range easily.

Killer avoids the head kick by Faulkner.
Faulkner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Killer defends well and Faulkner ends up having to push Killer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Faulkner leaves Killer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Killer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Killer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Faulkner appears to be looking for a big counter.
Faulkner throws a head kick but Killer moves out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Faulkner wants to stand but Killer has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Killer is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Faulkner is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edison Faulkner.
I think Faulkner has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
