Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Domenic Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Motson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Domenic Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Motson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calderon needs to keep his hands up - Motson had a free shot at his head there.
Calderon closes the distance looking to clinch
and Motson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A left and a right from Motson both land. Nice combination.
Calderon throws a head kick that misses.
Motson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Motson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Calderon at a distance.
Motson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Calderon misses with a body kick.
Motson throws out a counter right but Calderon avoids it with no problem.

and Motson counters with a nice uppercut.

Calderon has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Motson tries to break free but Calderon pushes him back against the cage.
Motson is trying to break the clinch but Calderon is controlling him.

Calderon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Motson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Calderon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Motson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Motson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Calderon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Motson is concentrating on defense, preventing Calderon from advancing position.

Motson tries to kick Calderon off in order to stand up. Calderon Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Calderon working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Motson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Motson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Calderon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Calderon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Calderon postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Calderon throws an elbow but Motson slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Calderon looks to land a body kick but Motson moved away.
Calderon drops his hands momentarily and Motson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Motson avoids the head kick by Calderon.
Calderon tries to clinch but Motson moves out of range.

Motson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Calderon doesn't seem bothered though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Calderon darts in looking for a takedown but Motson gets double underhooks and turns Calderon into the cage.

It seemed like Motson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Calderon on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Motson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Calderon.
Motson looks to score with a jab to the body but Calderon is just out of range.
Calderon seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Calderon shoots in looking for a takedown. Motson tries to sprawl out of it but Calderon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Motson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Calderon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Motson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Calderon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Motson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Motson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

John Motson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Motson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Calderon.
Motson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Calderon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Calderon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Motson swats away the attempt to clinch by Calderon.

Motson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Calderon looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

John Motson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Motson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
