PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ignazy Stawski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by I'm Shipping Up To Boston. The key to victory for Justin Hunter has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ignazy Stawski!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Ignazy Stawski has been cut.
Hunter throws a series of punches but Stawski moves out of range.
Hunter works Stawski's body with a nice hook.
Hunter misses with a hook.

Stawski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hunter regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hunter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stawski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stawski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stawski is stalling here. Hunter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Stawski seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hunter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Hunter passes Stawski's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Stawski is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hunter is looking for a kimura but Stawski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hunter to get the leverage.

Hunter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stawski is just riding it out for now. Hunter eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hunter drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stawski dives on top into guard.

Hunter lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Stawski sprawling to the canvas. Hunter follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Stawski hang on?

Hunter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stawski defends it well.
Stawski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hunter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hunter's back!
Hunter manages to reverse the position and now he's in Stawski's guard. Nice work there by Hunter.
Stawski seems to have recovered his senses.

Hunter drops back looking for a leg! Stawski is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stawski manages to kick Hunter off! Hunter jumps back into Stawski's guard.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stawski looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stawski looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stawski!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hunter tries to roll over but Stawski keeps him under control.
Hunter trying to hold on to Stawski's head to control him but Stawski postures up.

Stawski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Stawski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hunter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stawski has managed to get both his arms back between Hunter's legs - danger averted.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Stawski fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hunter.
Stawski closes the distance looking to clinch
and Hunter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stawski walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Stawski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hunter is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stawski, as that shot connected.

Hunter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stawski defends it easily.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stawski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stawski looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hunter is looking for a sweep. Stawski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stawski moves into full mount! Hunter won't be happy about that!
Stawski lands a big shot there that rocks Hunter but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hunter tries to hold on but Stawski pushes him away.
Ignazy Stawski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Justin Hunter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I think Hunter has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
