PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Schneider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Kais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Schneider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Kais!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kais throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kais lands with a nice body punch.

Kais gets caught flat footed, as Schneider shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kais looking to control.
Schneider working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kais is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schneider keeping moving, preventing Kais from controlling successfully.

Kais trying to stand up but can't free himself from Schneider's guard.
Kais wants to control from the top but Schneider keeps moving.
Kais tries to stand but Schneider is controlling from the bottom.
Schneider looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Schneider throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kenny Kais seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kais throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schneider could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
No joy there for Kais, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kais throws a head kick that Schneider semi-blocks.
Kais throws a sloppy head kick and Schneider moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schneider darts in looking for a takedown but Kais gets double underhooks and turns Schneider into the cage.
Kais jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kais misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Schneider looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Kais closes the distance and clinches.

Kais lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Kais is trying to work for a kimura but Schneider is defending well.
Schneider might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Schneider flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Schneider is not content to let Kais control the position.

Kais is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schneider doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kais.

Kais is working for a kimura but Schneider is defending it quite comfortably.
Schneider is looking for a sweep. Kais is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kais is looking to take a break and control but Schneider is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kais is pressing down on Schneider's thigh, looking to free his foot. Schneider is holding on for now.
Schneider is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kais is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kais is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schneider doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kais.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Kais dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kais shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kais was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Schneider knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kais on the ground.

Kais is trying to get an arm triangle but Schneider is defending well.
Kais has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Schneider throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kais is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schneider is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kais wants to stand but Schneider has his arm trapped.

Kais has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Schneider is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kais yanks on the arm and Schneider is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kais.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kenny Kais!
After the fight, Kenny Kais was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
