PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lars Kenardly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenardly comes into the arena with Strokin blaring out of the sound system. Durden has chosen Monster as his entrance music. Edward Durden is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lars Kenardly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Durden!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenardly scores with a jab.

Kenardly closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Durden did well to prevent Kenardly getting side control.
Durden wants to get back to full guard.

Durden looking for submissions off his back.
Kenardly throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kenardly is keen to just control but Durden is a slippery customer.
Durden keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Durden keeping moving, preventing Kenardly from controlling successfully.
Kenardly has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Durden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kenardly manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kenardly has Durden pulled in close to control his posture.

Durden is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Durden throws a big right hand that misses.
Kenardly wants to sweep here but Durden controlling him for the moment.
Kenardly not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Durden pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kenardly is keeping the position for now.
Kenardly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Durden on the ground.
Kenardly wants to sweep here but Durden controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Durden wants to pass the guard but Kenardly is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kenardly has Durden up against the cage in a clinch.

Durden escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kenardly scores with a takedown into Durden's guard.
Kenardly preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenardly is looking to work some ground and pound but Durden has wrist control.

Durden is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kenardly defends well.

Durden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kenardly throwing strikes but missing.
Kenardly throwing strikes from guard but Durden blocks nicely.

Durden throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kenardly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kenardly in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kenardly stands up over Durden, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Durden is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kenardly trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kenardly in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Durden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Durden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kenardly can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Durden has his foot on Kenardly's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kenardly works his way back into a safe position though.

Kenardly has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Durden to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kenardly is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Durden pulls down on the head and he's put Kenardly to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Edward Durden!
Edward Durden seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
