Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Grimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edgar Mendoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cameron Grimes!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Chris Dean and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimes shoots for a double leg takedown but Mendoza sprawls well. He's pushed Grimes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Grimes takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Grimes throws a head kick that misses.
Mendoza uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Grimes has time to react.
Grimes has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Grimes there as he acknowledges the shot.
Grimes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mendoza to score with a decent uppercut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mendoza.

Grimes closes the distance and clinches.

Grimes jumps guard.
Mendoza wanted to stand there but Grimes had control of the position.
Grimes wants to sweep here but Mendoza controlling him for the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mendoza wants to stand but Grimes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grimes controls Mendoza momentarily but Mendoza frees himself.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mendoza would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mendoza keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

It looks like Cameron Grimes has been cut.
Mendoza throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Grimes stumbling backwards into the cage! Grimes bounces back off the cage towards Mendoza, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Mendoza lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Mendoza celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
