PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hilario Horn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Taroni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Taroni told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horn throws a looping overhand right but Taroni ducks down to avoid it.
Taroni throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Horn.
Taroni lands a lovely overhand right.
Horn misses with a hook.
Taroni stuns Horn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Taroni lands a head kick. Horn smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Taroni throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Taroni throws a lazy head kick

and Horn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Taroni wants to get back to striking at distance but Horn won't allow it.

Horn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Taroni fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Taroni ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Horn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Horn manages to break the clinch.
Taroni lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Horn.
Taroni struggling a bit here.
Taroni is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Taroni wants to control but Horn postures up.
Taroni is looking to reverse the position.
Taroni is pushing Horn's head away, looking to escape. Horn manages to hold on to the position though.
Taroni can't do much from the bottom here.
Taroni is looking for a sweep.

Taroni seems a little lost for a moment, as Horn dominates the positioning.
Taroni looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Horn is looking to take a break and control but Taroni is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Horn controls the position.
Taroni is pushing Horn's head away, looking to escape. Horn manages to hold on to the position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nice shot lands for Taroni.
Horn needs to keep his hands up - Taroni had a free shot at his head there.
Taroni throws a head kick but Horn moves out of range.
Horn moves forwards but Taroni connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Taroni swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Horn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Horn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Horn breaks the clinch.

Taroni lands a body shot.
Taroni with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Taroni misses with a wild body shot.
Taroni tries a head kick but it misses.
A clash of legs there as Horn blocks the low kick.
Horn connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Taroni momentarily.
Taroni tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Horn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Taroni napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Horn is staying tight to Taroni's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Taroni tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Horn lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Taroni is not content to let Horn control the position.
Taroni being controlled for a moment.
Taroni regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taroni is trying to maintain the position but Horn is very close to passing his half guard.
Horn trying to control from half guard but Taroni is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Henry Taroni will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Taroni pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Taroni just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromHorn.
Taroni scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Taroni lands with a shot to the body.
Jab, jab by Taroni - just one landing.

Horn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Taroni sprawls well initially but Horn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Taroni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Taroni is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Horn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Horn's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Taroni is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Horn won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Taroni off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Henry Taroni!
After the fight, Henry Taroni was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
