The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephanus fails to land the takedown.
Kowalski is looking to counter the offense by Stephanus and move into the clinch.
Stephanus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kowalski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stephanus somewhat.
Stephanus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Marcin Kowalski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edwin Stephanus.

Kowalski closes the distance and clinches.

Kowalski lands a takedown into guard.
Stephanus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kowalski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kowalski drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stephanus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kowalski has Stephanus in his guard.

Kowalski is looking for a triangle but Stephanus pushes his legs off easily.
Stephanus trying to control the position from guard on top but Kowalski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stephanus is sitting in close to Kowalski's body. Kowalski has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Stephanus is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Stephanus is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Kowalski.
