Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Quill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desert Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quill kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Blue Swede - Hooked on a Feeling. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Desert Storm !

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Storm misses

and Quill decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Storm 's guard.
Quill controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quill slips nicely into half guard.
Storm is looking for a sweep. Quill is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Quill wants to take a breather but Storm is having none of it.
Storm trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quill is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Storm regains half guard.
Storm is not content to let Quill control the position.

Quill moves into full mount! Storm won't be happy about that!
Quill avoids the attempt from Storm to control.
Storm is wriggling around trying to escape.
Quill trying to control but Storm is having none of it.
Storm is desperately trying to improve his position but Quill has a good base and remains in mount.

Quill trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Quill lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Quill jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Storm manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Storm gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Storm moves into full guard.

Storm working for submissions but it's allowed Quill to get to half guard.

Storm tries to get to full guard but Quill has control of the leg.
Quill uses his free foot to push down on Storm 's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Storm .

Storm looking very determined here, making life difficult for Quill.
Quill is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Storm is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Storm breaks Quill's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Storm is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Storm drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quill manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Storm has Quill in his guard.

Quill is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Storm throws a leg kick but Quill moved away.
Storm scores with a kick to the midsection.
Quill takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Quill misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Quill shoots and misses
and Storm counters with a slapping leg kick.
Quill on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Storm . Storm obviously looking to wear him down.
Quill lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Storm circles away quickly and effectively.
Storm throws a low kick, looking for Quill's leg but Quill calmly moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm lands a head kick. Quill smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Quill misses with a takedown attempt - Storm sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Quill shoots in for a takedown but Storm shows good takedown defense.

Storm keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Storm scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Storm has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Quill is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Good standup being displayed there by Storm as he connects with a hook.

Quill misses with a double jab.
Storm was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Storm throws a low kick but Quill moves out of range easily.
Quill gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Storm .

Quill closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quill lands in his opponent's guard.

Storm looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Storm controls Quill momentarily but Quill frees himself.
Quill wants to control from the top but Storm keeps moving.
Storm looking to control but Quill passes into half guard.
Storm is staying active underneath Quill, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Storm wants to control but Quill is keeping busy.

Storm regains full guard. Nicely done.

Storm has his foot on Quill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quill works his way back into a safe position though.

Quill wants to stand up but Storm has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Quill wants to control but Storm is keeping him busy.
Storm keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Quill is trying to control. Storm wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Storm makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Storm .

Storm working for submissions but it's allowed Quill to get to half guard.

Quill is looking to take a break and control but Storm is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Desert Storm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Quill fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Storm has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Quill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Storm sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quill somewhat.

Storm tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Quill is able to avoid easily.
Quill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Storm paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Quill throws a body shot but no joy.
Storm lands a brutal head kick. Quill looks out on his feet and Storm throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
