PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Lazaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thierry Malouda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malouda comes into a darkened arena with his song building. In the end kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malouda has his takedown stuffed
and Lazaro counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Malouda shoots for a takedown but Lazaro saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lazaro is looking to counter the offense by Malouda and move into the clinch.
No joy there for Malouda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lazaro gets caught flat footed, as Malouda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lazaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Malouda on the ground.

Let's hope that Malouda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lazaro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Malouda to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Malouda is looking for a kimura but Lazaro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Malouda to get the leverage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Malouda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Malouda wants to stand but Lazaro has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Malouda lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Malouda looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Malouda.

Malouda shoots in looking for a takedown. Lazaro tries to sprawl out of it but Malouda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lazaro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Malouda uses his free foot to push down on Lazaro's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lazaro.

Lazaro looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
