Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Feodor Shemelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toni Manel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manel comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A Portuguesa kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Manel lands in his opponent's guard.
Shemelianenko looking for a sweep. Not yet Shemelianenko, not yet.
Shemelianenko working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Manel.
Manel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shemelianenko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Manel working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Manel distracts Shemelianenko with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
It looks like Feodor Shemelianenko has been cut.

Manel works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Manel throwing shots but Shemelianenko is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manel throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shemelianenko is trying to get back to full guard.

Shemelianenko slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Manel is in close to Shemelianenko's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Manel throws a big right hand that misses.
Manel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shemelianenko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Manel has managed to get both his arms back between Shemelianenko's legs - danger averted.
Manel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shemelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Manel stands up over Shemelianenko, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Shemelianenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Manel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Manel postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Feodor Shemelianenko's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Shemelianenko has momentary wrist control but Manel slips an elbow through the middle.
Jeez, Feodor Shemelianenko's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Feodor Shemelianenko's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
