Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vato Loco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison's entrance music is Diary of a Madman. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vato Loco!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loco misses with a combination
and Morrison counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Loco's coach down at Pride KT Kickboxing Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Loco's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Morrison works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Loco takes one on the chin but seems OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Loco will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Loco fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Morrison looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Loco dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Loco moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Morrison scores with a nice right hand.
Morrison uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Loco.

and Morrison counters with a takedown into side control.

Morrison thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Loco pushes Morrison away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Morrison gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Morrison is working to tighten his grip on Loco's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Loco has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Morrison is really squeezing tight and eventually Loco passes out! Morrison breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). David Morrison!
An out of breath David Morrison thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
