PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Jalkalukko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Tranquillity - Iridium. Jalkalukko has chosen Jordan Sparks ft. Chris Brown - No Air as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Joey Dixon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joey Dixon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Jalkalukko!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dixon instigates a clinch.
Jalkalukko's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jalkalukko blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Dixon misses with a body punch.
Dixon scores with a hook to the body.
Dixon misses with a hook to the ribs.
Jalkalukko tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dixon smiles and moves away.
Jalkalukko tries to land a leg kick but Dixon saw it coming and moves away.
Jalkalukko avoids the head kick by Dixon.
Dixon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Good leg kick by Jalkalukko there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Dixon throws a body punch but Jalkalukko moves out of range.

Dixon moves into the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Dixon.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dixon.
Dixon can't find room to land a body shot as Jalkalukko controls the action.
Dixon misses with a punch to the body.

Jalkalukko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dixon. Jalkalukko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dixon connects with a single shot there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dixon blocks a low kick nicely.
Dixon scoring well with a low kick there.
Dixon tries to clinch up

and Jalkalukko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dixon won't be happy with that.
Jalkalukko throws an elbow but Dixon slips to the side and avoids it well.
Dixon can't do much from the bottom here.

Jalkalukko tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Dixon is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on Dixon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dixon parries the strikes from Jalkalukko easily there. Jalkalukko is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dixon to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jalkalukko trying to control the position but Dixon is working away.
Dixon tries to improve position but can't.
Dixon holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Dixon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Dixon is trying to get back to half guard.
Dixon manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Jalkalukko has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dixon looks to land a strike but Jalkalukko avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dixon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jalkalukko preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dixon connects with a couple of short punches.
Dixon controlling from the top position.
Dixon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dixon controls from within his opponent's guard.
Jalkalukko wants to sweep here but Dixon controlling him for the moment.
Dixon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Dixon distracts Jalkalukko with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Jalkalukko is pulling down on Dixon's head. It's preventing any offense from Dixon, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dixon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jalkalukko moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Dixon dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dixon wants to clinch.
Jalkalukko changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Dixon throws a right hand that Jalkalukko ducks under and follows up with a left that Jalkalukko also avoids with ease.
Dixon misses with an uppercut
and Jalkalukko counters with a good low kick that Dixon was not able to check.
Dixon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Joey Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dixon moves into the clinch.
Dixon lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Jalkalukko blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Dixon is leaning against Jalkalukko and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Jalkalukko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jalkalukko tries for a takedown but Dixon manages to get underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dixon misses with a punch to the body.
Jalkalukko drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dixon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Dixon catches Jalkalukko with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


Jalkalukko is rocked!
Jalkalukko ducks into an uppercut from Dixon and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joey Dixon!
Our winner, Joey Dixon, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
