Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyle Fretwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nikodim Roma!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roma looks to throw the jab but Fretwell is out of range.
Roma throws a nice looking combination but Fretwell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fretwell closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Roma swings widly with a right hand
enabling Fretwell to counter with a crisp jab.
Roma pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Fretwell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Roma swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Roma misses with a few strikes there.
Roma tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fretwell was well out of range. Poor timing from Roma.
A little feinted left hand from Fretwell on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Roma looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Fretwell is looking to slow Roma down with leg kicks.
Roma moves in looking to clinch but Fretwell pushes him off.
Nikodim Roma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fretwell scores with a takedown into Roma's guard.
Fretwell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fretwell pushing down on Roma's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Fretwell performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Fretwell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Roma with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Roma has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fretwell is working away from the top position though.

Fretwell is working for a submission of some sort.
Fretwell prevents Roma from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fretwell wants to free his trapped foot but Roma is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Roma avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fretwell.
Roma really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fretwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fretwell wants to pass the guard but Roma is defending well.

Fretwell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Roma defends it well.
Fretwell uses his free foot to push down on Roma's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roma.
Fretwell in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

It looks like Nikodim Roma has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fretwell scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Fretwell trying to control but Roma is having none of it.
Roma is bucking up trying to escape but Fretwell cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Roma is rocked!

The cut above Nikodim Roma's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nikodim Roma's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Lyle Fretwell!
An out of breath Lyle Fretwell thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
