Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castillo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Emerson on his heels. He'll look to pass Emerson's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Castillo wants to pass the guard but Emerson is keeping the position.
Emerson wants to sweep here but Castillo controlling him for the moment.
Emerson is working hard here to advance position.
Emerson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castillo wants to control from the top but Emerson keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Emerson is on top in guard.

Emerson is working Castillo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castillo looking for a guillotine here but Emerson defends easily.

Emerson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Castillo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Emerson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Castillo is in Emerson's guard.
Emerson looking for a sweep. Not yet Emerson, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Emerson is on top in guard.

Emerson cracks Castillo with a solid left hand.

Emerson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Castillo closes the distance and clinches.

Emerson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Emerson manages to end up in side control.
Castillo is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Emerson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Emerson is trying to get an arm triangle but Castillo is defending well.
Castillo can't do much from the bottom here.

Castillo tries to buck Emerson off but Emerson is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emerson lands a nice forearm strike.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Castillo taking punishment in the form of punches.
Castillo wants to control but Emerson postures up.

Emerson tries for a kimura but Castillo is defending well.
Emerson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Emerson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Castillo down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vito Emerson dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Castillo misses with a hook.
As Castillo looks to move away, Emerson throws a big counter combo bu Castillo just gets out of the way.

Castillo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Emerson's guard.

Emerson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Castillo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Emerson's half guard.
Emerson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castillo can do to turn this around?

Emerson manages to get to full guard.
Vito Emerson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Castillo is breathing heavily.

Emerson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Castillo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Emerson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Castillo is looking to defend but Emerson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Castillo! Emerson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Castillo taps out and this one is all over!
