The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren misses with an attempted mid kick.
MuayThai walks into a jab.
MuayThai looks to score with a jab to the body but Askren is just out of range.
MuayThai lands a big head kick that sends Askren tumbling to the mat! MuayThai takes a step backwards and waves Askren back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Askren is rocked!
MuayThai fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Askren manages to avoid it.
Askren throws a shot from downtown. MuayThai moves away and avoids it.
Askren lands a lovely overhand right.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
MuayThai tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Askren was well out of range. Poor timing from MuayThai.
Razor MuayThai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren moves out of range of the body kick from MuayThai.

and Askren counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for MuayThai!

Askren lands an elbow.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if MuayThai can do anything to dispel that myth.
Askren passes to full mount! That's big trouble for MuayThai!

Askren lands a heavy shot. That's hurt MuayThai! Askren sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless MuayThai and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Jon Askren started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
