Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hendo Riggs!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, De Bruyne!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruyne misses with a straight right.
Bruyne has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Riggs tries to clinch but Bruyne moves out of range.
Riggs misses with a body kick.
Riggs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bruyne.
Bruyne misses with a low kick as Riggs jumps back.
Riggs looks to score with a jab to the body but Bruyne is just out of range.
Bruyne throws out a leg kick but Riggs moves out of range and Bruyne only half commits.
Riggs throws a body kick that misses.
Bruyne throws a leg kick but Riggs sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Riggs fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bruyne throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Bruyne cracks a nice hook into Riggs's ribs.
De Bruyne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bruyne moves away.

Riggs dives in and grabs Bruyne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bruyne pushes down on Riggs's head and hops out.

and Bruyne counters with a low kick, right behind Riggs 's knee.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Riggs wants to control from the top but Bruyne keeps moving.
Riggs lands a couple of digs.

Bruyne manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Riggs manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bruyne lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bruyne lands a body shot.
Riggs swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bruyne.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

De Bruyne dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bruyne takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A swing and a miss from Bruyne.
De Bruyne seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice defenses there by Riggs.
Bruyne bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bruyne slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Riggs takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Riggs scores with a nice body kick.
Riggs takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Bruyne misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Bruyne sprawls well. He's pushed Riggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Riggs is looking to land body kicks.
Bruyne on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bruyne scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Riggs doesn't seem bothered though.

Riggs throws a wild body kick that Bruyne sees coming a mile off.
Bruyne waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riggs.
Bruyne throws a hook but Riggs avoids it easily.
Riggs shoots in but no luck this time.
Bruyne jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Riggs drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bruyne sprawls and moves away.
Bruyne buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Riggs. That's going to slow Bruyne down.
Riggs closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Bruyne defending well as Riggs loads up on a big left hand.
Bruyne has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bruyne fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Riggs looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Riggs moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


Riggs is rocked!


It looks like Hendo Riggs has been cut.
Bruyne throws an overhand right that drops Riggs like a sack of potatoes! Bruyne dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). De Bruyne! De Bruyne retains his welterweight title!
