PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Goudeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edvin Rinne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Goudeau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edvin Rinne!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goudeau looks to land a right hand but Rinne moved out of range.
Goudeau misses with a hook.
Goudeau throws a hook to the side of Rinne's head but Rinne sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Goudeau throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rinne sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rinne moves out of range as Goudeau strikes.
Goudeau is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Rinne shoots in but Goudeau avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rinne keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Goudeau.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A decent looking cross lands there for Goudeau.
Goudeau displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rinne.
Rinne is looking to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goudeau shoots in for a double leg but Rinne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And Rinne tries to counter it with a takedown but Goudeau pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Rinne throws a looping overhand right but Goudeau ducks down to avoid it.
Edvin Rinne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rinne uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Goudeau.
Rinne shoots in for a takedown but Goudeau shows good takedown defense.
Mark Goudeau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edvin Rinne.
Rinne moves out of range as Goudeau strikes.
Rinne is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Rinne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Goudeau avoids it really well and circles away.

Goudeau shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rinne manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Goudeau forces his way into half guard.
Goudeau wants to control but Rinne is keeping him busy.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rinne manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goudeau is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Goudeau passes Rinne's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Goudeau seems to be working for a kimura but Rinne defends the submission attempt.
Rinne felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Goudeau wants to work for an arm triangle but Rinne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rinne wants to get back to full guard.
Rinne moves into full guard.
Rinne bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goudeau's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rinne tries to free his leg and advance position but Goudeau is retaining full guard.
Goudeau seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Goudeau has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rinne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rinne pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Goudeau is keeping the position for now.

Rinne is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Goudeau has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rinne is looking to defend but Goudeau has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rinne! Goudeau pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rinne taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mark Goudeau!
A very excited looking Mark Goudeau made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
