PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Moo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaice Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Moo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaice Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Watson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn has a takedown stuffed.

Moo moves into the clinch.
Moo misses with the head strike.

Moo throws a right hand that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gunn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Moo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A little jabbing left from Gunn on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Gunn has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gunn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A countering left hand to the body from Gunn misses.
Gunn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moo tries to avoid it but Gunn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moo to the ground. Moo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Moo tries to counter with a takedown but Gunn is quick to defend against it.
Mikey Moo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaice Gunn.

Moo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gunn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Moo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gunn manages to get himself to full guard.

Gunn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gunn is looking to stand up but Moo isn't so interested in that idea.

Moo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gunn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moo has managed to get both his arms back between Gunn's legs - danger averted.

Moo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Moo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gunn, up you get!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gunn.

Moo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gunn sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gunn misses with a straight right.
Moo went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Moo shoots in for a double leg but Gunn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And Gunn tries to counter it with a takedown but Moo pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Gunn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Moo did well to prevent Gunn getting side control.

Moo is not content to let Gunn control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gunn is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
My spies in Sydney Fight Team inform me that Gunn has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

It looks like Kaice Gunn has been cut.

Moo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Moo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Moo holds on and takes a little breather.

Gunn pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Gunn tries to pull guard but Moo holds him up against the cage and eventually Gunn drops back down to his feet.

Moo throws a knee to the head but misses.

Moo wants to take the fight to the mat but Gunn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikey Moo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moo swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A frustrated look appears on Gunn's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Moo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Moo manages to end up in side control.

Moo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Moo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gunn, who protects the arm well.
Moo scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gunn to see if he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gunn is pushing Moo's head away, looking to escape. Moo manages to hold on to the position though.

Gunn is looking for a sweep.
Gunn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gunn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gunn.

Moo wants to stand but Gunn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Gunn has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Moo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Moo goes for a double leg but Gunn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gunn continues to drive forward.

Kaice Gunn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Moo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Moo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gunn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Moo, into his guard.

Gunn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Moo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gunn's guard.

Moo drops back looking for a leg! Gunn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gunn manages to kick Moo off! Moo jumps back into Gunn's guard.

Moo has gone for a leg lock! Gunn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Moo's guard.

Moo wants to sweep but no luck.
Moo is controlling Gunn's posture.
Moo looking for a sweep. Not yet Moo, not yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gunn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mikey Moo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gunn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moo's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mikey Moo.
Well Gunn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kaice Gunn spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
