PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Childish Gambino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bors Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gambino comes to the cage accompanied by Bonfire. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bors Hill!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gambino wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hill scores with a nice hook to the head.
Gambino is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Hill breaks from the clinch.
Hill dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gambino. That did some damage!
Hill throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hill throws the left hand but Gambino avoids the punch easily.
Hill lands with a kick to the ribs.
Hill's coach down at MANTIS MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hill's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Sloppy strikes from Gambino. Those never looked like landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gambino avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Hill staying out of range there.
Hill throws a jab but it's blocked by Gambino.

Hill closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Gambino working hard to break the clinch.

Gambino breaks from the clinch.
Gambino throws a looping overhand right but Hill ducks down to avoid it.
Hill misses with a hook. Gambino ducked under it nicely.
Gambino takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gambino thinks about countering with a body kick.
A swing and a miss from Gambino.
Hill pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gambino is out of range and Hill settles back down.
A combination from Gambino does no damage.
Hill with the counter takedown but Gambino avoids it easily.
Hill tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Gambino counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gambino misses with a looping right.
Gambino throws a right and a left that Hill avoids nicely.
Hill throws out a counter right but Gambino avoids it with no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Hill.
Hill misses with a low kick.
Hill shoots for a takedown but Gambino saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gambino throwing a counter right hand but Hill manages to avoid it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hill. That's going to slow Gambino down.
Gambino is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hill.
Hill swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hill.
Gambino bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hill's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hill lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gambino backs up against the cage.
Hill throws an off balance right hand
and Hill takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Hill is rocked!
Gambino lands an uppercut, right on the button! Hill tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Childish Gambino!
