Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vito Emerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vito Emerson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Johnson moves nicely into side control.
Johnson misses with the ground and pound.
Johnson trying to control the position but Emerson is working away.
The referee asks Johnson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Johnson prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Emerson prevents Johnson from moving into mount.
Johnson working the strikes but Emerson uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Johnson is pressing down on Emerson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Emerson is holding on for now.

Emerson is looking to improve his position.
Johnson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Johnson is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Emerson to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Emerson keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Emerson won't let him.
Emerson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Johnson has passed into side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Johnson working the strikes but Emerson uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Emerson wants to get back to his feet.
Johnson is looking to stall here but Emerson recovers full guard.
Johnson advances position into side control!

Emerson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Emerson is not content to let Johnson control the position.

Emerson is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnson.
Johnson wants to control but Emerson is keeping him busy.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Emerson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Emerson looking for a sweep. Not yet Emerson, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnson dives in and scores a takedown into Emerson's guard.
Johnson trying to control but Emerson is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.
Johnson wanted to stand there but Emerson had control of the position.
Emerson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Emerson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Emerson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Michael Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Johnson lands a slapping body shot.
Emerson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Johnson throws a nice head kick!

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Emerson's guard.
Johnson trying to control but Emerson is working from the bottom.
Emerson is looking to sweep but instead, Johnson has passed into half guard.
Emerson wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.
Emerson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back!
Johnson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Johnson wants to get back to full guard but Emerson has passed into side control.

Emerson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Emerson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Johnson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Johnson tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson tries to escape but Emerson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Johnson keeps trying to improve his position.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Emerson connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Johnson to escape the position.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Emerson lands with a hammerfist to the side of Johnson's head.
Emerson is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Emerson looking for the choke but no joy.
Emerson throwing wild punches that miss their target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Michael Johnson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Emerson moves into the clinch successfully.
Johnson is looking to break free of the clinch but Emerson has double underhooks.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.

Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emerson did well to prevent Johnson getting side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Emerson controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Emerson can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Emerson wants to get back to full guard.
Michael Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Emerson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Emerson gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Emerson manages to retain guard.

Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Emerson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Emerson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Emerson postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.
Johnson is adopting a defensive guard.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Johnson working for a triangle but Emerson defends it easily.
Johnson wants to sweep but no luck.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Emerson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Johnson's guard.

Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Emerson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vito Emerson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michael Johnson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Emerson moves out of range of the body kick from Johnson.

I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
