PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Trzcinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johannes Maanpohja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trzcinski kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ice Cube - Do Ya Thang. Daniel Trzcinski has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johannes Maanpohja!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maanpohja shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maanpohja showed some decent athleticism there.

Trzcinski is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bad Pluto! (18 Elite Coach) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Trzcinski wants to stand and escape but Maanpohja is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Maanpohja drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Trzcinski dives on top into guard.


Maanpohja is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Trzcinski defends well.
Trzcinski passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Maanpohja is looking for a sweep. Trzcinski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Trzcinski seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Trzcinski wants to control but Maanpohja is keeping him busy.
Maanpohja slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Maanpohja has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Trzcinski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Trzcinski makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Trzcinski wants to stand but Maanpohja is controlling his posture from full guard.

Maanpohja looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Trzcinski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Maanpohja looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Maanpohja has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Trzcinski with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Trzcinski has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Maanpohja to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Trzcinski is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Maanpohja pulls down on the head and he's put Trzcinski to sleep! This one is all over!

Johannes Maanpohja really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Fury Nutrition Inc. logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
