The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Poks throws a one two combo.
Poks closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That has opened up James Burns's cut even more.
Poks throws a combination. Burns tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Burns drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Burns goes for a double leg but Poks avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Poks continues to drive forward.
Poks lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Poks cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Burns tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Poks defends well and Burns ends up having to push Poks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jees Poks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Burns.
Poks lunges at Burns with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Burns's hand.
Burns looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Poks is fending him off so far but Burns persists. Nope, Poks circles away and we're back to standing.
Poks scores with a jab. Burns acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Poks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burns moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Poks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Poks connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Burns's hands.
Poks digs a good body shot into Burns's ribs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Poks blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Poks is trying to push Burns away but Burns has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Poks tries to break free but Burns pushes him back against the cage.
Burns breaks the clinch.
Poks stalks Burns and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Burns's face. Burns staggers backwards, shaken.
Burns closes this distance looking for a takedown but Poks circles away.
Burns shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Poks makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burns moves into the clinch.
Burns drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Poks gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Burns doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Burns pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Burns rushes Poks and presses him up against the cage.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burns is trying hard to land a takedown here. Poks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Poks tries to keep at a distance but Burns has taken the fight into the clinch.
Burns pulls guard effortlessly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Danga de danga de dang - Poks scores with a four punch combination!
Burns walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Burns has managed to clinch.

Poks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burns can do to turn this around?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burns turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Burns manages to end up in side control.
The strikes coming from Burns are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Poks on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Poks tries to get out of the position.

Burns wants to control but Poks is keeping him busy.
Burns in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Poks is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Burns asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Burns tries to score with some ground and pound. Poks controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Poks keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Burns thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Burns has hold of Poks's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Poks tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Burns cranks the arm and Poks screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Poks, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

In defeat, Jees Poks stepped up to the mic, saying 'Next Time will be different!'.
