PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Diablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Family Force 5 - Chainsaw. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santiago Diablo!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diablo throws a shot from downtown. Shaw moves away and avoids it.
Diablo tries for a takedown but Shaw sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shaw loads up on a big right hand but Diablo slips the punch.
Diablo misses with a lunging right hand
and Shaw counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Shaw cracks Diablo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Diablo misses with an uppercut.
It looked like Shaw was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shaw swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Diablo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Diablo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaw as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diablo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Shaw misses with a two punch combination.

Santiago Diablo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shaw throws a hook but Diablo blocks it.
Shaw looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Diablo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Diablo ducks right into an uppercut from Shaw.

Shaw is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Shaw lands a head kick. Diablo smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Santiago Diablo has been cut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Shaw is looking for a sweep.
Shaw is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Diablo off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diablo defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Shaw's arms.
Shaw tries to get the hooks in deep but Diablo pushed the leg off.
Diablo tries to escape but Shaw has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Shaw looking to break Diablo's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Diablo remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Shaw will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Shaw is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Diablo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Diablo trying to control the action but Shaw just sinks the hooks in.

Diablo darts in looking for a takedown but Shaw gets double underhooks and turns Diablo into the cage.

Diablo throws out a loose jab but Shaw uses good head movement to avoid it.
A little feinted left hand from Shaw on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Shaw lands a nice shot that snaps Diablo's head back.
Shaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Diablo dives in and grabs Shaw's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes down on Diablo's head and hops out.
Shaw lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Diablo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Shaw misses with a wild body shot.
Diablo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

A nice leg kick lands there from Shaw.
Diablo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shaw tries to avoid it but Diablo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shaw to the ground. Shaw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And Shaw counters with a quick kick to the body but Diablo blocks it.
Jack Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Santiago Diablo.

Diablo might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Diablo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shaw's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Shaw will probably get the nod.

Diablo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shaw knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Shaw is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

I would just about give that final round to Santiago Diablo.
I think Shaw has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
