PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Bon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Worf Roshenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roshenko has chosen QoNos Death Swell as his entrance music. Worf Roshenko told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, King Bon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Worf Roshenko!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Bon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Roshenko throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Bon to counter with a crisp jab.

Bon gets a clinch.

Bon breaks from the clinch.
Roshenko throws a head kick that misses.
Bon tries to counter by clinching up but Roshenko breaks away and moves out of range.

Roshenko gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bon avoids the head kick by Roshenko.

Bon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roshenko moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bon's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Roshenko looking for a guillotine here but Bon defends easily.

Bon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roshenko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bon has managed to get both his arms back between Roshenko's legs - danger averted.
Bon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Roshenko wants to sweep but no luck.

Roshenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bon is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bon throws a series of strikes that have Roshenko backpedaling.
Bon shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Roshenko fails with the takedown.

Roshenko clinches.

Bon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bon with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Bon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roshenko circles away quickly and effectively.
Roshenko tries a head kick but it misses.
Bon misses with a few strikes there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bon pushes Roshenko up against the cage in a clinch.
Roshenko is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bon gets through Roshenko's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Bon avoids the elbow strike from Roshenko, against the cage.
Roshenko tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Roshenko fails to pull the fight into his guard.
King Bon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Worf Roshenko.
Roshenko can't find room to land a body shot as Bon controls the action.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Roshenko jumps guard but Bon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Bon breaks from the clinch.
Bon tries to clinch there but Roshenko circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Roshenko wants a takedown but no success here.
Roshenko jumps guard but Bon stands there with Roshenko around his waist. Roshenko gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Roshenko crunches a lovely knee into Bon's ribcage.

Bon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bon scores with a jab to the body.
Roshenko takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bon checks the leg kick.
A head kick misses from Roshenko.

Roshenko moves into the clinch.

Roshenko breaks from the clinch.
Bon defending well as Roshenko loads up on a big left hand.
Bon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roshenko tries to avoid it but Bon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roshenko to the ground. Roshenko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King Bon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bon swinging wildly here.
Bon avoids the head kick by Roshenko.
Bon falls off balance throwing a combination

and Roshenko counters with a takedown into side control.
Bon tries to escape but Roshenko is in control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Bon dominated that round.
That's time! Bon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Roshenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Roshenko closes the distance and pushes Bon back into the cage.
Roshenko stalling.

Bon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bon shoots for a double leg takedown but Roshenko sprawls well. He's pushed Bon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Roshenko can do to turn this around?
Roshenko throws a sloppy head kick and Bon moves out of range easily.

Roshenko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Bon manages to break the clinch.
Roshenko throws a leg kick but Bon sees it coming and moves out of range.

Roshenko takes the fight into the clinch.
Roshenko misses with an elbow over the top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bon breaks from the clinch.
King Bon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bon doesn't manage to clinch there - Roshenko circles away.
Bon moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromRoshenko.
Bon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Roshenko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Roshenko tries a head kick but it misses.
Bon tries to close the distance and clinch but Roshenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Roshenko takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Danga de danga de dang - Bon scores with a four punch combination!

Roshenko has managed to clinch.

Bon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Roshenko forces Bon back against the cage and clinches.
Roshenko is trying to pull guard but Bon turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Bon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bon digs a good hook to Roshenko's body.

Roshenko closes the distance and pushes Bon back into the cage.

Bon breaks the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bon utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Roshenko is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bon to keep the fight standing.

Bon breaks the clinch.

Bon lands a left and a right that send Roshenko crashing to the mat, dazed. Bon thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Worf Roshenko has been cut.

Roshenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Bon scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Roshenko is breathing heavily.

Bon darts in and clinches Roshenko up against the cage.
Roshenko tries a body shot but Bon blocks it.
Roshenko tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bon just stands there and leans against the cage.
King Bon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Worf Roshenko.

Roshenko swings wildly with an uppercut but Bon uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bon throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Roshenkos head.
Roshenko throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Bon lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Bon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Roshenko tries a head kick but it misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bon is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Bon shuts the power down on Roshenko. Lights out, game over! Bon is your winner.
