The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rodriguez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rodriguez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Aikawa sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Let's hope that Aikawa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodriguez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Aikawa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rodriguez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rodriguez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Aikawa is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Rodriguez frees his head nicely. Oh but Aikawa has switched to an armbar! Rodriguez is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
