Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Callaghan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tantalus Flay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flay is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Outerspace- Revolution. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 22 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Callaghan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tantalus Flay!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flay scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Callaghan doesn't seem bothered though.
Flay looks to land a body kick but Callaghan moved away.
Callaghan throws a head kick that half lands.
Callaghan takes a swing at Flay's ribcage but misses.
Callaghan lands with a kick to the ribs.
Flay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Callaghan was well out of range. Poor timing from Flay.
Flay misses with a looping right.
Callaghan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Flay.
Flay moves out of range as Callaghan throws a body kick.
Flay looks to throw the jab but Callaghan is out of range.
Flay connects with a crisp jab.
Flay keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Callaghan throws the kick towards the body but Flay avoids it.
Flay misses the jab.
Callaghan throws a leg kick that misses.
Callaghan throws a leg kick which misses Flay's front leg but catches the back leg as Flay tries to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Callaghan manages to avoid it.
Flay lands an overhand right.
Callaghan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Callaghan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Callaghan swings for the body but Flay moves out of range.

Flay works the jab nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Flay connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Flay throws a jab but it's blocked by Callaghan.
Callaghan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Callaghan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Callaghan cracks Flay with an open hand slap.
Callaghan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Flay throws a hook but Callaghan blocks it.
Callaghan takes a swing at Flay's ribcage but misses.
Flay misses with a hook. Callaghan ducked under it nicely.
Callaghan checks a leg kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Callaghan.
Callaghan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Callaghan has Flay up against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flay wants to break free but Callaghan has control.
Callaghan working aggressively here.

Callaghan throws a head punch that misses.
Flay managing to block the knees to the body from Callaghan.
Callaghan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Flay backwards.

Flay gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Flay wants to pass the guard but Callaghan is defending well.
Flay is trying to control the action in half guard but Callaghan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Flay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Flay sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Callaghan defending well though.
Callaghan is looking for a sweep. Flay is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Flay thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Callaghan's head.
Callaghan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Flay sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Callaghan defending well though.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Flay drops an elbow to the side of Callaghan's head.
Flay trying to mount his opponent but Callaghan defends it.
Callaghan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Flay working over Callaghan with some ground and pound. Callaghan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Flay is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Callaghan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Flay frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Poor strikes thrown by Flay there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Flay trying to control but Callaghan is having none of it.
Flay unloads with some shots from mount but Callaghan bucks and avoids them well.
Callaghan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Callaghan avoids a series of strikes thrown by Flay.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Callaghan taking shots to the head.
Flay sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Flay looking to control but Callaghan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Flay looking to ground and pound but Callaghan is blocking nicely.
Flay working the ground and pound effectively.
Flay misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Flay punching from mount but Callaghan doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Flay prevents Callaghan from getting the reversal.
Flay landing punches.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Flay cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Flay scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Callaghan?


Callaghan is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flay postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Callaghan bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Flay and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tantalus Flay!
A relieved looking Tantalus Flay thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
