PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bernado Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philip Peralta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goncalves kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wind of Change - Scorpions. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bernado Goncalves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Philip Peralta!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peralta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Goncalves dodges the punch combination from Peralta.
Peralta swings for the body but Goncalves moves out of range.
Goncalves feinted with a counter takedown.
Goncalves misses with a head kick.

Goncalves has Peralta up against the cage in a clinch.
Come on Peralta - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Goncalves drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Peralta gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Peralta is fighting off a takedown attempt but Goncalves is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Peralta to the mat. Peralta regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goncalves slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Goncalves is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Nordic Top Team that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Goncalves seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Peralta for as long as he can get away with.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Peralta seems a little lost for a moment, as Goncalves dominates the positioning.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Goncalves postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Goncalves tries to score with some ground and pound. Peralta controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Goncalves cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Goncalves closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Peralta quickly recovers to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Goncalves has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Peralta after a bit of a struggle.
Philip Peralta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bernado Goncalves is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Peralta tries to stall but Goncalves uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
