PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Efrain Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shoto Murasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murasaki has chosen PRIDE FC Theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Efrain Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoto Murasaki!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murasaki lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Silva lands a left and a right that send Murasaki crashing to the mat, dazed. Silva thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Shoto Murasaki has been cut.
Murasaki tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Silva fails with the takedown.
Murasaki doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.

Murasaki clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the ropes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Murasaki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Murasaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Murasaki off to one side.
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Murasaki sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Murasaki feints the counter takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Efrain Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice body kick from Murasaki.

Murasaki scores with a jab to the head.
Silva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Murasaki defends well and Silva ends up having to push Murasaki into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Silva is breathing heavily.

Silva tries to keep at a distance but Murasaki has taken the fight into the clinch.

Murasaki breaks the clinch.
Murasaki plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Murasaki closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Murasaki drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva stops a takedown attempt from Murasaki.
Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Murasaki just stands there and leans against the ropes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murasaki has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silva after a bit of a struggle.

Murasaki breaks the clinch.
Murasaki looks for a takedown but Silva sprawls well.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Murasaki counters with a slapping leg kick.

Silva tries to keep at a distance but Murasaki has taken the fight into the clinch.

Murasaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva walks forward, straight into a front kick from Murasaki.
Murasaki lands with a kick to the temple. Silva shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Efrain Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Murasaki has taken the fight to the clinch.

Murasaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Murasaki clinches up against the ropes.
Murasaki has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Silva avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Murasaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Murasaki pushes Silva away with a front kick.

Murasaki takes the fight into the clinch.

Murasaki manages to break the clinch.
Murasaki scores with a push kick.

Murasaki gets a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Murasaki has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Silva clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murasaki controls the position.
Murasaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Let's hope that Murasaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Murasaki can't escape the position, to get back to his feet.
I would not like to be Silva right now.
Murasaki trying to control.
Murasaki has good solid back control here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Murasaki gets back to his feet from a dominant position... quite strange.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shoto Murasaki dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shoto Murasaki's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Murasaki scores with a jab to the jaw.
Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Murasaki shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Murasaki has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A combination from Silva does no damage.
Murasaki scores with a head kick.

Murasaki drives through and clinches with Silva against the ropes.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Silva falls off balance throwing a combination

and Murasaki counters by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Murasaki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murasaki lands a jab to the nose.

Murasaki moves into range and clinches up with Silva.
Silva stops a takedown attempt from Murasaki.

Murasaki breaks from the clinch.
A jab from Murasaki finds it's way through Silva's defenses.
Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Murasaki connects with a solid leg kick.
Murasaki throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Silva.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Murasaki paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murasaki defends it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murasaki throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Murasaki lands a big head kick that sends Silva to the canvas! Murasaki follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shoto Murasaki!
Shoto Murasaki looked relieved post fight as he said the following; '*Jumps on the cage* My striking has always been unrivaled, and I was able to show that tonight. '.
