Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Knox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Knox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Owens!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Chris Dean and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Owens looking to score a takedown here. Knox is defending well but Owens drives through and ends up in Knox's guard.
Owens tries to free his leg and advance position but Knox is retaining full guard.
Owens is pushing down on Knox's leg trying to pass to half guard. Knox is fighting to maintain full guard but Owens has managed to sneak the leg through.
Owens stops Knox from getting back to his feet.
Knox is refusing to be controlled, as Owens sits in half guard.
Owens is pressing down on Knox's thigh, looking to free his foot. Knox is holding on for now.
Owens is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knox wants to get back to his feet.

Knox punching from the bottom.
Owens trying to pass the guard but Knox defending well.

Owens wants to work for an arm triangle but Knox is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Knox is trying to stand up here but Owens is controlling him well.
Owens takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Knox looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Knox is looking for a sweep. Owens is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Owens tries to pass the half guard into mount. Knox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Owens works his way into side control.
Owens prevents Knox from escaping the position.

Owens thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Owens controls the position.

Owens goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Knox has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Owens but great work by Knox.
Owens tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Knox wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knox wants to stand but Owens has his arm trapped.
Knox sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Owens is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Knox is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Owens knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Knox throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Owens struggling a bit here.
Knox throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Owens works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Knox is thwarting Owens's attempts to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Knox sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Owens defending well though.
Knox looks to land a strike but Owens avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Knox has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Owens is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Knox is aware though and is defending well.
Owens not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Owens is on top in guard.

Owens trying to control the position from guard on top but Knox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Knox is trying to keep Owens in close.
Knox will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Owens gets a takedown into half guard.
Knox is trying to control but can't.
Knox is pressing down on Owens's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Knox is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Owens wants to control from the top but Knox keeps moving.
Owens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Owens. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Owens works his way into full mount!
Knox in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Knox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Owens wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Owens has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Owens has control of Knox's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Knox regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Owens swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Knox is now in Owens's guard. A big mistake from Owens there, giving up the dominant position!
Knox wants to stand but Owens has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Knox throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Owens is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Owens lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mark Owens has got the better of the ground game so far.
Owens stops Knox from standing up.
Owens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Knox is keeping the position for now.
Knox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Owens on the ground.
Owens's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Owens loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Owens is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Owens won't allow Knox to get back to his feet.
Owens looking to pass the guard.
Knox wants to stand up but Owens is controlling him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Knox fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Owens avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Owens shoots in and bounces Knox off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Owens trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Owens passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Owens is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Knox has managed to free his arm - good work.
Owens moves nicely into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knox is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Owens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Knox tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Owens manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Owens tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Owens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Owens looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Owens is looking for a kimura but Knox is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Owens to get the leverage.
Knox wants to improve his position but Owens is controlling well.
Owens is keen to just control but Knox is a slippery customer.
Owens looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Owens wants to pass the guard but Knox is defending well.
Knox tries to roll over but Owens keeps him under control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Owens frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Owens looking to control but Knox is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Owens is looking to work his way around to Knox's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Knox is trying to escape the mount.
Mark Owens is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Owens fails to move to back control.

Mark Owens comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Owens has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
