Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viacheslav Datsik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Viacheslav Datsik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash throws a body shot but no joy.
Datsik tries to counter with a clinch but Nash shakes him off and moves away.
Brutus Nash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Datsik avoids the body shot from Nash.
Datsik unleashes a big counter combination but Nash bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Nash fails to land the takedown.
Nash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nash plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Datsik lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nash circles away quickly and effectively.
Datsik throws a right and a left that both miss.
Datsik displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nash throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nash shoots for a double leg takedown but Datsik sprawls well. He's pushed Nash's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Viacheslav Datsik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nash shoots in looking for a takedown. Datsik tries to sprawl out of it but Nash keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Datsik manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Datsik tries to work over Nash's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

I was talking to Nash's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Nash misses with a punch to the body.
Nash tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Datsik is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Datsik gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Nash is trying to break the clinch but Datsik is controlling him.

Nash has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Datsik avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nash has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Datsik is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Brutus Nash's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

With the fighters up against the cage, Datsik throws an elbow but misses.

Datsik pushes off an throws an elbow but Nash leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nash doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Datsik makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Nash is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nash tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Datsik just stands there and leans against the cage.

Oh Nash is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Clinched against the cage, Datsik lands a big elbow that drops Nash! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Nash is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Viacheslav Datsik decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
