Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Puna Wai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Watt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Watt's choice of entrance music: Edmund Fitzgerald. Puna Wai could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Scott Watt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Puna Wai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scott Watt!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Wai.
Nice sprawl there from Watt as Wai shoots in.
Wai takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Watt bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wai's head.
Watt scores with the left hand. Wai knows he should have avoided that one.

Wai shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Watt's guard.
Watt wants to sweep here but Wai controlling him for the moment.
Watt is trying to keep Wai in close.
Wai is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Watt is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wai stops Watt from standing up.
Watt has his hands on Wai's head, controlling the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Watt feints and then cracks Wai's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wai down.
Watt is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Watt jabs Wai to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Good leg kick by Watt there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Watt lands a big head kick that sends Wai tumbling to the mat! Watt takes a step backwards and waves Wai back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Wai is rocked!


It looks like Puna Wai has been cut.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Watt! Wai is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Watt!
Scott Watt decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
