Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bernardo Bernardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Eel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bernardo Bernardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Eel!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernardo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eel was well out of range. Poor timing from Bernardo.

Eel darts in and clinches Bernardo up against the cage.

Eel ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Eel no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Eel wants to stand but Bernardo is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bernardo trying to control the position from guard on top but Eel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bernardo won't allow Eel to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bernardo stands and throws Eel's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Bernardo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Eel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bernardo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Bernardo tries to advance to mount but can't.
Bernardo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eel keeps working.

Bernardo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Eel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Eel is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bernardo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Eel!

Eel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bernardo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Eel wants to control but Bernardo is having none of it.
Eel tries to buck Bernardo off but he can't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bernardo looking to control but Eel is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bernardo fails to take his opponent's back.
Bernardo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Eel is looking to escape.
Eel is controlling an arm, preventing Bernardo from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Eel regains half guard.
Bernardo wants to pass the guard but Eel is defending well.
Eel is trying to stand back up but Bernardo is controlling him
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bernardo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Bernardo seems to be working for a kimura but Eel defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Eel takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Eel feints and as Bernardo raises his hands in defense, Eel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Eel wants to stand but Bernardo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bernardo has momentary wrist control but Eel slips an elbow through the middle.
Bernardo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Eel's guard.

Bernardo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Eel can do to turn this around?
Bernardo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Eel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Eel stops Bernardo from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Bernardo is really struggling to control Eel but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Bernardo seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Eel is holding on tight.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eel can do anything to dispel that myth.

Eel moves in looking to clinch but Bernardo pushes him off.
We've been told by Bernardo's head coaches at Madz **21 Elite coaches** that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Eel gets caught napping as Bernardo dives in and scores a takedown. Eel manages to retain guard.
Bernardo trying to control the position from guard on top but Eel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bernardo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bernardo pushes down on Eel's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bernardo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eel keeps working.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Bernardo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bernardo somewhat.

Eel has closed the distance and engaged Bernardo in a clinch.

Eel has Bernardo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Eel pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bernardo tumbling to the mat - Eel dives into Bernardo's guard.
Bernardo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Eel wants to get back to his feet.

Bernardo is working for a submission of some sort.

Bernardo is looking for a kimura but Eel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bernardo to get the leverage.

Bernardo wants to pass to mount but Eel is defending the position.
Eel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Eel is refusing to be controlled, as Bernardo sits in half guard.

Bernardo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Eel tries to roll over but Bernardo keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bernardo is keen to just control but Eel is a slippery customer.
Bernardo prevents Eel from standing back up.
Bernardo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eel keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Eric Eel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bernardo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bernardo wants it to stay on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Eel or perhaps it was just good defense by Bernardo, which made it look bad.
Bernardo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bernardo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
