Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ola John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Tarnowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ola John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 49 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michal Tarnowski!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John throws a nice outside leg kick.
Tarnowski fails with a takedown attempt.
John misses with a kick to the body.
John throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
John definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
John throws a shot from downtown. Tarnowski moves away and avoids it.

John gets caught napping as Tarnowski dives in and scores a takedown. John manages to retain guard.
My spies in Thunder MMA inform me that Tarnowski has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
John wants to sweep here but Tarnowski controlling him for the moment.
John has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John wants to hit a switch here but Tarnowski passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for John there!

John bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Tarnowski has his foot on John's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. John works his way back into a safe position though.

Tarnowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. John swivels though and keeps the full guard.

John tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tarnowski content to stall in guard here.

John has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tarnowski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tarnowski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


John misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tarnowski.
Tarnowski tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Tarnowski tries to free his leg and advance position but John is retaining full guard.

John is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Tarnowski throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around John's waist but John gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tarnowski off to one side.
Jab, jab by John - just one landing.

John gets a clinch.
Tarnowski has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. John avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
John doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A bit of stalling here from Tarnowski.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


John thuds a left hand into Tarnowski's body.
John takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
John looks to land a body kick but Tarnowski moved away.

John gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tarnowski to score an easy takedown into full guard.

John pulls Tarnowski in close to his closed guard and prevents Tarnowski from doing any damage or advancing position.
Tarnowski postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ola John.
I think John has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
