Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jaakko Savolainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Paul Fish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savolainen comes into the arena with Winning blaring out of the sound system. Jaakko Savolainen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jaakko Savolainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Paul Fish!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Fish. Savolainen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fish lands a high kick!


It looks like Jaakko Savolainen has been cut.

Savolainen shoots in and bounces Fish off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Savolainen wants to control from the top but Fish keeps moving.

Savolainen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fish manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Savolainen has Fish in his guard.


Savolainen is looking for a triangle but Fish pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Savolainen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fish defends it easily.

Fish throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Savolainen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Savolainen is keeping the position for now.
My spies in Woodhouse's inform me that Fish has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Savolainen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fish can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fish stays in close to Savolainen's body and controls the position.

Savolainen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Fish escapes and throws Savolainen's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Fish creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Savolainen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Fish working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Savolainen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Savolainen tries to lock up and control but Fish gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Fish has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Savolainen's face.

Savolainen sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Savolainen is trying to get back to full guard.
Fish is keen to just control but Savolainen is a slippery customer.
Fish is thwarting Savolainen's attempts to control the position.

Fish is looking to take a break and control but Savolainen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Savolainen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fish, pushing him back against the cage.

Fish's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Savolainen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fish doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Savolainen.

Savolainen is looking for a kimura but Fish is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Savolainen to get the leverage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Savolainen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fish knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fish is refusing to be controlled, as Savolainen sits in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Savolainen is working for a kimura but Fish is defending it quite comfortably.
Well, if Savolainen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Savolainen tries to clinch but Fish is having none of it.
Fish showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Savolainen.

Savolainen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fish quickly recovers to half guard.

Savolainen is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Fish still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Fish has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Fish working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Fish wants to control but Savolainen is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savolainen stops Fish from passing to mount.

Fish is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Savolainen forces Fish back against the cage and clinches.
I was talking to Savolainen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Fish stalling.
Fish is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Savolainen is defending well for now.
Savolainen stalls.
Fish keeps control of Savolainen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Savolainen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fish throws a big elbow that misses.
Savolainen keeping moving, preventing Fish from controlling successfully.

Savolainen has his feet on Fish's thighs here. He's pushed Fish off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Fish screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Jaakko Savolainen bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
