Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes to the cage accompanied by Blinded By The Light. Danny Charles had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gilbert Gutierrez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutierrez shoots in for a double leg but Charles sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

As Gutierrez backs away, Charles returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Danny Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gilbert Gutierrez.
Charles is pushing Gutierrez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Charles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gutierrez shoots for a double leg takedown but Charles sprawls well. He's pushed Gutierrez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gutierrez dives in for a single leg takedown but Charles sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Charles is looking to counter with head kicks.
Charles definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Gutierrez tries to clinch there but Charles circles away.
As Gutierrez backs away, Charles returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Charles leaves Gutierrez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Charles changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gutierrez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Charles defends it nicely.

Charles looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Charles tries to kick Gutierrez off in order to stand up. Gutierrez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Gutierrez lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Charles down.

Charles parries the strikes from Gutierrez easily there. Gutierrez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Charles to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gutierrez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Charles will probably get the nod.

It looked like Charles was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gutierrez.

Charles has Gutierrez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Charles pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gutierrez tumbling to the mat - Charles dives into Gutierrez's guard.

Charles has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gutierrez's face.
Gilbert Gutierrez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Danny Charles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.


That has opened up Gilbert Gutierrez's cut even more.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gutierrez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Danny Charles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Charles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
