PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sean Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cade Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cade Cox!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cox looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cox stands and throws Curry's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Cox wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Curry, who protects the arm well.
Curry tries to buck Cox off but Cox is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Curry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cox happy to just control the position for now.
Cox lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cox controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cox is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Curry knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Curry is not content to let Cox control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sloppy strikes there by Cox.
Curry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Curry is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Cox wants to control but Curry is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Curry is holding Cox down, trying to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cox tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cox scores with a takedown into Curry's guard.
Cox wants to control from the top but Curry keeps moving.
Cox wants to pass the guard but Curry is keeping the position.
Cox in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cox slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Curry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cade Cox dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cox shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cox showed some decent athleticism there.
Cox is keen to just control but Curry is a slippery customer.
Curry wants to control but Cox is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cox working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Cox is trying to control. Curry wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Cox tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Curry.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Curry is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cox lands with a straight right. Curry didn't see that one coming.

Cox shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Curry is trying to defend but Cox finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.


Curry is rocked!

Cox is working for a kimura but Curry is defending it quite comfortably.
Oh Curry is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Curry has hold of Cox's hands but Cox slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cox postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Curry to stand up.

Cox throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Curry was covering up waiting for the punch and Cox finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cox postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cox is pushing down on Curry's leg trying to pass to half guard. Curry is fighting to maintain full guard but Cox has managed to sneak the leg through.

Cox is working for a kimura but Curry is defending it quite comfortably.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cox takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Cox trying to control the pace.
Cox looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Cox working the head and body with strikes.
Cox missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Curry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cox on the ground.
Cox is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cox has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cox passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Curry!
Cox fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Cox cracks Curry with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cade Cox!
