PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karim Bashorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maester Ochu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bashorov's entrance music is Hangar 18. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karim Bashorov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maester Ochu!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ochu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ochu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bashorov.

Ochu wants to slow Bashorov down by chopping away at his legs.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bashorov shoots in looking for a takedown. Ochu tries to sprawl out of it but Bashorov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ochu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ochu throws out a counter right but Bashorov avoids it with no problem.
Bashorov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ochu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bashorov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ochu has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bashorov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Ochu might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Bashorov has got the better of the exchanges.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ochu is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bashorov passes Ochu's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bashorov is nestled in close to Ochu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bashorov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
