PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Luger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Luger told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Luger!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luger throws a big shot that misses.

and Perry counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Luger is looking to improve his position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luger blocking the ground and pound attempt from Perry.
Luger is looking for a sweep. Perry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Perry is looking to advance position but Luger won't allow it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Perry lands a nice short elbow.

Luger throws a right and a left that Perry avoids nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Perry thuds his right hand into Luger's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Luger looks for the body kick but Perry saw that one coming.
Luger throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lee Perry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Luger moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Luger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Perry looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

and Perry counters with a takedown into side control.

Perry lands a nice forearm strike.
You can see the frustration on Luger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Perry slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like Perry has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Perry misses with a wild combination.
Luger looks to land a right hand but Perry moved out of range.
Perry appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Luger throws a leg kick but Perry checks it.
Luger takes a jab right on the kisser.
Perry keeps the fight on the outside.
Perry avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Perry lands a nice hook to Luger's body. Luger takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Perry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Luger looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

I wouldn't like to be where Luger is right now.

Perry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fight stays on the outside here - Luger looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Perry throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Luger was covering up waiting for the punch and Perry finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Perry throws an elbow that misses. Luger uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Perry's guard. Nice move by Luger!

Luger wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Luger controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Luger is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

I would just about give that final round to Shane Luger.
I think Luger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
