PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Tonon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adrian Johnson!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tonon circles away from the clinch attempt

and Tonon counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.

Johnson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Tonon has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Tonon blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Johnson landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Tonon tries to pull guard but Johnson holds him up against the cage and eventually Tonon drops back down to his feet.

Tonon jumps guard and drags Johnson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Johnson throws a big elbow that misses.
Tonon wants to sweep but no luck.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Tonon is retaining full guard.
Tonon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

Tonon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tonon passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
Johnson is not content to let Tonon control the position.

Tonon tries for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
Johnson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Tonon.
Tonon has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Johnson is looking to improve his position but Tonon isn't that keen on the idea.
Tonon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tonon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.

Tonon moves to take his opponent's back.
Tonon somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Tonon has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Johnson is trying to stand back up.

Tonon has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Johnson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Tonon has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Johnson is defending well but eventually Tonon manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Johnson has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
