The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cohen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Jacques fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cohen seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Jacques gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cohen stops Jacques from standing up.
Cohen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jacques's head.
Cohen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jacques is working an open guard so Cohen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Jacques has momentary wrist control but Cohen slips an elbow through the middle.

Cohen drops back looking for a leg! Jacques is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jacques manages to kick Cohen off! Cohen jumps back into Jacques's guard.

Cohen gets to his feet. Jacques looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cohen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jacques tries to kick Cohen off but Cohen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cohen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jacques has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cohen is working away from the top position though.

Cohen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Jacques really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cohen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
