Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Cox!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffith moves into the clinch.

Griffith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cox feints a jab promting Griffith to slip. Cox then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Griffith slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Kurtis Griffith has been cut.

Griffith tries to sprawl but Cox drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Griffith is staying active underneath Cox, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Griffith looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Griffith is holding on to half guard well.
Griffith is trying to control but can't.
Cox is looking to take a break and control but Griffith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cox is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cox is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Griffith defends it well.

Cox wants to stand up but Griffith is controlling the position.
Griffith is not content to let Cox control the position.
Griffith regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cox wanted to stand there but Griffith had control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cox looking to pass the guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cox darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Griffith keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Griffith tries to kick Cox off but Cox keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cox seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Griffith is staying active underneath Cox, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cox wants to free his trapped foot but Griffith is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cox looks winded!
Griffith is doing well to control the position and prevent Cox from advancing to side control.
Griffith is trying to stand.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffith has his hands clasped together around Cox's back. He's all about the action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Griffith dives in and scores a takedown into Cox's guard.

Griffith drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Griffith seems to have locked his on tight now - Cox screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Griffith, as he picks up the win!
