Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kahuna closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Simonides's guard.

Kahuna thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simonides can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kahuna wants to control from the top but Simonides keeps moving.
Kahuna is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kahuna's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kahuna drops back, looking for a kneebar! Simonides looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Simonides looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Simonides!

Simonides really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kahuna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kahuna can't do much from the bottom here.
Kahuna is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Simonides's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kahuna might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kahuna is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Simonides's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Simonides's back!
